Warriors of the Wonderful Sound

Weekly discussions in 2000 on creative music between Bobby Zankel & 7 associates, lead to the the birth of  Warriors of the Wonderful Sound. Our first project was developing an ensemble to perform  cutting edge originals. Between September 2001- 2012, we presented our band monthly. In 2004,”Ceremonies of Forgiveness”,  made “top ten” lists. Collaborators include  Richard Abams, Steve Coleman,Don Byron, Rene McLean.. Our recording of Muhal”s “Soundpath” was a “Best of the Year” choice.The “Wonderful Sound” has increasingly been heard in smaller configurations;”Wonderful Sound Six” released a CD  that made 2018 best lists. A Wonderful Sound 8  recording “A Change of Destiny is coming this fall.
