Bardin Niskala Duo

Formed in 2021, the Bardin-Niskala Duo is a classical cello and piano duo comprised of cellist An-Lin Bardin and pianist Naomi Niskala. The Duo’s main project is commissioning ALAANA composers, asking them to use their music to address their sense of identity by composing a piece based on or around a folk song and/or children song that is central to the composer’s sense of cultural or racial belonging.  Through the commissioned works, the Duo encourages and promotes cultural and racial awareness through humanizing and personalizing people’s stories of finding identity and belonging, fostering empathy and compassion in audiences.
