Matchstick Percussion, a Maryland-based quartet, champions new music while advocating for equity through performances and education. In five years, they’ve played across several states, at venues like the Kennedy Center and Penn State. They’ve appeared at festivals including Rhoneymeade and PAS MD/DE Day of Percussion. Notable projects include performing John Luther Adams’ Earth and the Great Weather with the 21st Century Consort. Dedicated to accessibility, their Strike Anywhere initiative commissions works using portable instruments. They’ve held clinics at universities and high schools, fostering the next generation of musicians.
