The Bachian Swing Consort is a live sonic expedition exploring the intersection between improvisation and an electrifying of the works of J.S. Bach. Powered by the virtuosic improvisations of a jazz organ trio comprising of Kevin Metzger on guitar, Rashaan Allwood on keys, and R. Aaron Walters on drums the Consort forges a modern path through Bach’s compositions and ventures out into spontaneous free inventions using jazz, rock, and other musical languages. The concept was awarded the 2023 City of Austin live music grant to incarnate a two-night, live recorded & filmed concert event on January 19 & 20, 2024.
