Larry Chernicoff

I’m a self-taught composer/performer whose music combines the spirit of jazz improvisation with classical elements & orchestral instruments. I use long-form structures & influences from minimalism & the Indian raga. I’ve led small and large ensembles for many years, performing my compositions exclusively. A member of the Creative Music Studio, I performed with Dave Holland, Don Cherry, Lee Konitz, Anthony Braxton & others. I’ve played at Carnegie Hall, The Smithsonian & other venues in the U.S., Canada, & Europe. I’ve endured outside “the scene” & continued to perform my music. I now lead an octet , who are all distinguished elders, bandleaders, virtuoso improvisers, composers and educators.
