La Banda Ramirez

 Flutist Carolyn Steinberg and La Banda Ramirez Latin Jazz Quintet is a 2023 winner of CMA’s Performance Plus grant. Holding a doctoral degree in music composition (The Juilliard School), she has written many vocal and instrumental works, with concert performances in U.S., Europe, and Japan (Tanglewood, Freiburg, Darmstadt), and by the Fromm Foundation, Southwest German Radio Orchestra, New York State Council on the Arts, and others. La Banda Ramirez performed twice monthly (2013-’20) at Paris Blues in Harlem, and continues to play public and private events in the New York City area. Many of the tunes in the band’s repertoire are her arrangements and originals. Carolyn continues to write choral and chamber works.
