Contemporary East

Contemporary East is a non-profit organization founded in New York City in 2022.
It started to spread the beauty of the eastern expression of improvisational music more widely.
There are some differences between Eastern and Western improvisational expressions, such as how to perceive time and space, or the importance of breathing. The beauty that comes out of them is also different.
We expect Contemporary East to embody the eastern beauty by introducing the expression of various musicians and to start a strong movement with these musicians, which will be followed by the next generation.
