Jon Irabagon Group

First generation Filipino-American saxophonist, composer and bandleader Jon Irabagon won the prestigious Thelonious Monk Saxophone Competition, was named one of the New York City Jazz Record’s Musicians of the Year in 2012, has been named Rising Star for both tenor and alto saxophone in Downbeat Magazine and was listed as one of New York City’s Top 25 Jazz Icons by Time Out New York.  Over the last two decades, Irabagon has consistently been involved in several of jazz and improvised music’s most forward-thinking ensembles, including the Mary Halvorson Quintet, Septet and Octet, the Dave Douglas Quintet, Barry Altschul’s 3Dom Factor, Mostly Other People do the Killing and Rudy Royston’s 303 and Orion Trio.
