The Renaissance City Winds has been one of Pennsylvania’s leading chamber music ensembles for fifty years. Varying in instrumentation and size from 3-10 musicians, RCW is named after Pittsburgh’s nickname and is dedicated to performing and recording the finest music for wind instruments. It has released CDs on the Elan and Centaur labels; been broadcast on television and public radio; and tours throughout the eastern US.

Founded a year before the Bicentennial, the group has received special recognition for its devotion to American music. It has premiered hundreds of works, many of them commissions. RCW won one of MEET THE COMPOSER’s community residency grants in 2001 and received two CMA residency awards.
