A Sputter Box performance is a captivating and unique experience. While only a trio (clarinet, voice, percussion), this ensemble can move from “mindfully constructed textures that are light as a feather and turn on a dime to explode into something orchestral” (M. Genese). As pioneers for the unique instrumentation, Sputter Box is building a diverse and exciting repertoire. Sputter Box has received grants from FROMM Foundation, CMA, and Queens Arts Council and was a 2021 collaborating ensemble for the Kinds of Kings Bouman Fellowship. Sputter Box has been a guest artist at UMass Amherst and the University of Florida.
