Dieter Wulfhorst
Cellist Dieter Wulfhorst is the artistic co-director of Musica Viva. The most recent (March 2025) set of four performances “Escape to Hollywood” featured piano trios by composers who escaped the terror of fascism in Europe and were able to find a safe haven in the Los Angeles area. He has appeared as soloist, orchestral musician, chamber musician, and recording artist in Asia, Europe, Australia, and the Americas. He is a much sought-after adjudicator, clinician and presenter for the last three decades. He holds a degree from the Staatliche Hochschule in Hanover (Germany) and a MM and DMA from the University of Maryland, College Park where he studied with David Soyer, the Guarneri Quartet, and Evelyn Elsing.
