Sunny Jain is a composer, drummer, dhol player, thought leader and Smithsonian Folkways recording artist. He is a 2025 Soho Rep Commissioned Artist and was a Visiting Scholar and Artist in Residence at Wesleyan University from 2023-24. In 2022, Jain joined Planet Drum, playing alongside drumming legends Mickey Hart (The Grateful Dead), Zakir Hussain, and Giovanni Hidalgo. Jain has performed around the world and is the founder/dhol player of the pioneering band, Red Baraat. He has appeared on NPR Tiny Desk Concert twice with Red Baraat and once in January 2024 with Sunny Jain’s Wild Wild East.
