Sunny Jain

Sunny Jain is a composer, drummer, dhol player, thought leader and Smithsonian Folkways recording artist.  In 2022, Jain joined Planet Drum, playing alongside drumming legends Mickey Hart (The Grateful Dead), Zakir Hussain, and Giovanni Hidalgo. He’s performed around the world with stops at the White House (Obama), Luxembourg Philharmonie, Austin City Limits, Peter Gabriel’s WOMAD festivals, London Olympics and is the founder/dhol player of the pioneering band, Red Baraat. Jain musical produced Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding, The Musical in 2023 at St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn, NY and previously musical directed the London based theatrical show, The Jungle. Jain is the recipient of the 2021 MAP Fund.
